Corkscrew Slough part of Don Edwards south of Bair Island is open for kayaking although there are seal haulouts and exposed birdlife , but the small waterways north of it are off limits.

The general rule is: all sloughs with restrictions are accessible, but all salt marshes and salt ponds are off limits. The mud is deep and can be dangerous. This was our favourite activity during our trip to SF, being out on the water on a beautiful day- nothing can top that off! Great views from the bay, including seeing the houseboats up close. The best part was that we were fortunate to have some seals pop their heads up out of the water to look at us! They were really beautiful to see so close to us. Put this on your list of activities if you visit, it's worth it!
Great guides with terrific personalities. We really lucked out with the weather and were able to have calm waters, no wind, lets of seals or sea lions, cruising along the Sausalito waterfront checking out the huge yachts and colorful, some very sophisticated, house boats.
Making a big circle and then heading towards the full moon was really spectacular.. The sky was filled with so many beautiful colors. I would do it again in a minute.. Today we went south towards the bridge and planned to get bar bocce for lunch.. New spot near bay model was easy to launch and come back.. We have been coming here for many years and we always have a great time. They make it easy and fun to get out and enjoy the bay and the ocean without having to store and schlep your own equipment.
Our guide Adam not only knew about the wildlife and their habitats in the area, but he enlightened us with stories of famous people and how they were part of Sausalito's history.
He was professional and made the trip so much more interesting. We hit the water after a thorough lesson in kayaking and safety. Wind and weather were perfect and we were able to kayak through the houseboat community and hear stories from Bob regarding all the history and characters living there. Seals were a plenty and many popped up just to say hi. We've done this tour before and it is one of my all time favourite things to do here in Marin.
